Integrity

Integrity is a very important part to everyone’s character. It’s your integrity that builds trust and respect amongst your peers. It is integrity we rely on when we run, race and tell others about our accomplishments. I have experienced a number of integrity issues with races I have participated in. I have been fortunate to lead or be close to the leaders in a number of large races. After crossing the finish line I have learned there are more finishers ahead of me than there should have been. In two specific cases I don’t believe anyone knowingly intended to cheat. Where integrity comes into play is when they are made aware of their mistake (cutting the course short because it was poorly marked or running the wrong distance) and they deny any wrong doing. They still collect their award and seem proud even after learning of their mistakes. Theses runners show little to no integrity. The ones that step up and admit there was a mistake are the ones who we should all stand up for and applaud. They are the winners in my book and will always gain my greatest respect. Show off your passion for running with a RUN. T-shirt
